Wildlife Cameras
We have a permit from Parks and Wildlife to deploy 6 wildlife cameras in the Great Western Tiers World Heritage Area at Western Creek. The cameras trigger automatically when an animal moves in front of them. Some animals are only active at night. The night time videos are monochrome because they are taken using infrared lighting so as to not disturb the animal.
The cameras were purchased with a grant from the 2A4 Small Grants Scheme.
Here are some of the videos taken so far in 2024 and 2025.
Dusky Antechinus (Antechinus swainsonii), native

The Mt Roland Landcare group’s Life on the Mountain project can be accessed here. That project has been ongoing for some time and there is a wealth of videos and montages of animals and birds on Mt Roland. Below is a compilation taken by Kristen Lang on Mt Roland showing a Southern Brown Bandicoot, followed by a Long Nosed Potoroo followed by a White Footed Dunnart. The three shared the same pathway at different times.
